The power of a person is found in likeness to Jesus Christ. It is not found in brilliance, gifting, knowledge, position, verbal power, reputation or fame. It is found when a person flings open the corridors & closets of their life so that they are full of the light & love of God.
Women have such complicated relationships with our bodies. We shame them, hide them, fight them, change them, all while the world stokes this animosity more.
And so it is no small thing that a woman's body serves as the stage for Advent.
This, too, is the start of redemption.
There is great hope in knowing God is not calling us to bigger, better or extraordinary. He wants to take the small, hidden, little & seemingly unimportant things in our lives & inject them with eternal glory. We can rest in our commonness, our ordinariness, and our smallness.
Effective teachers don't focus so much on rules, but more on relationships, routines, & expectations. If you focus mainly on rules, you will spend most of the year enforcing them. But if you focus on relationships, routines, & expectations, you rarely have to defer back to rules.
