Today each of our fifth grade students honored the teacher who had the greatest impact in their educational career thus far. The teachers chosen ranged from Kinder to 5th grade teachers. Let’s just say a few tears were shed❤️ #IgniteTheFireAwards@MrsChavez4th @MsdelaCruzFirst
Make staar review fun easily. Students answer Qs on their own, then get in groups to check their work. Those groups get to show their answer to me. If right, they shoot ping pong ball for different points in diff containers. If wrong, no shot! Ss love it!
A4: oooohhh, this has been tough for me. I was recently shown @padlet by @crystal_porche and it was really fun to try today! I had students respond to a prompt and then comment on another’s post (with verrrrry specific instructions). #1stTeachChat
A3: planned grouping is crucial. 🔥 depending on what the success criteria is for the lesson, my grouping will be different. And sometimes the planned group is to not plan the group & allow student choice - just as important! #1stTeachChat
A1: academic language = life language. Ss must realize how they’re expected to speak at school is how they’re expected to speak in real world. I always tell them it’s amazing how we can have 2 ways of speaking - 1 @ home & 1 @ school. Keep both! #1stTeachChat
Q2: I know it seems Elementary (pun intended), but ANCHOR CHARTS. Students refer to them when they’re in the convo and can use them repeatedly. Here’s one we talked about today that encouraged partner reading for fluency. #1stTeachChat
I’m prepping notes for next week’s interactive notebook, but first I like to make sure the illustrations look like my students. It doesn’t take much time, but I think it’s really important.
