I don’t teach from a textbook.

I teach young adults with disabilities, ages 18–22, during their final years before they age out of the public school system.

This isn’t just another school year. It’s the bridge between school and adulthood.

They’re transitioning from entitlement to eligibility.

In public education, services are guaranteed. After graduation, support often depends on qualifying for programs with long waitlists, complex paperwork, and limited resources. Families are suddenly expected to navigate systems they’ve never had to face before.

So we don’t spend our days preparing for standardized tests.

We prepare for life.

For more than 15 years, I’ve dedicated my career to helping students build meaningful, independent lives. Today, I teach in a Title I public high school’s 18+ Transition Program in Oak Cliff, Dallas, TX.

My classroom is powered by creativity, high expectations, community partnerships, and the incredible generosity of people who believe these students deserve every opportunity to succeed.

My Amazon Wishlist isn’t filled with classroom décor or trendy gadgets. It’s filled with the everyday tools that teach independence: measuring cups, visual supports, adaptive kitchen tools, food containers, communication supports, sensory items, cleaning supplies, vocational materials, and technology that gives students more independence.

Every item becomes a lesson.
Every lesson builds confidence.
Every skill creates another step toward adulthood.
