Fellow Educators! If you're struggling to find content to teach your students in your #VirtualClassroom , DM me for a full unit plan and student packet on the great book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. All materials and activities can be done remotely!
Great article by @TIME on the effects of Reconstruction on modern race relations. It is imperative that today's educators, who are striving to resolve tensions, are aware and educated about our countries history that has lead to current struggles. #GCCedu https://t.co/lqXk2JEsAi
Just read this article on poverty in the US. The author writes that the recent census data that states a decrease in nationwide poverty does not accurately tell the story for children. Child poverty is far too high and is affecting our students. https://t.co/OiBMSy5SDC #GCCEDUC
As a future teacher of ALL students, I am learning how to teach ELLs. Non-native English speakers are enrolling in schools across America and our teachers aren't equipped. Schools must learn to educate and accommodate these students quickly! #GCCEDUC https://t.co/LZPhV3szYN
Physical Disabilities affect and often restrict many students from fulfilling their goals. It is important to find role models, like @zoommagic98 , to inspire students that their dreams are achievable. #GCCedu
Screen Readers help students that are visually impaired to use computers effectively. Many useful tools can be found at https://t.co/CKctJmPrpf ! Be sure to check out some of them so you can better teach your students. #GCCEdu@WestonCorey1
Learning about tips for teaching deaf or hard of hearing students by using @ClercCenter resources. I like the content about involving these students in social situations so they don't miss out on that element of school. #GCCEdu
I just came across a great resource for #middleschool and #highschool#math teachers by @TXInstruments called Math Nspire. It provides teachers with a lot of resources to better prepare lesson plans. Objectives, vocabulary, and videos are great things to add to lessons. #gccedu
Just learned about @noisli ! Awesome app to encourage student focus by adding natural noises. I'm definitely going to be using it as a student teacher and in my own classroom one day. #gccedu#edtech
I am really impressed by the assistive technology being created by companies like Microsoft. The One Note Immersive Reader would be helpful any student struggling to read, especially ELL and students with learning disabilities. #GCCedu#specialeducation
TASH (@TASHtweet ) are striving for advocacy, research, education, individualization, and legislation for people with severe handicaps. Awesome organization fighting to protect individuals from mistreatment. #gccedu#specialeducation
Transition services are the extension of support for special education students from high school into the community. The ultimate goal is more than education but self-sustainability. #gccedu
I found it quite interesting to learn about how early intervention has been proved productive in premature or underweight babies and how the success of that process is reliant on intensity and participation. #gccedu
Parent-teacher relationships are critical for all student's education, but become even more important with students with disabilities. Teachers must be open to whatever parents think is necessary for their child's education. Communication is key.
Today in Exceptional Learners we learned about how fairness is different than equality. Students will all require varying amounts of assistance and it is important to create an in-class culture that is accepting of peers using tools to help them learn. #GCCedu
@MrSethWade Seth-I agree. I taught for 12 years before moving. I learned a ton in those years. I’ve seen people switch tool early and they struggle to be grounded. It certainly is personal. #ecet2
Logging off! Thanks to @ECET2natl for leading such an awesome chat. A lot of thought provoking questions being tossed around and some valuable answers being shared. #ecet2
A5: Hopefully if I ever take up a leadership position I will have had years of quality experience and learned a lot about teaching. This valuable knowledge is something that I could share with other educators in my new role. #ecet2
