It's a small thing, but I'm asking if y'all have feedback:
Last year, due to EVERYTHING, I ditched the shirts/ties to basically be "Coach" Shaw everyday (It was liberating 🙂)
Is that still the wave, or does dressing "up" make a comeback?
Ultimately, I've been quietly explaining that it's not "different because it's me." When we slow down on the placating and shift the focus to loving intentionally, we create authentic impact.
I shared the concept of being 6'1 and Black first because it's a necessary piece of my truth. Colleagues and students alike need to know that outside of those walls I am more fearful, anxious, and conscious than would ever come out during a school day.
Is it uncomfortable? Of course. In the journey, you're going to realize that some folks are unintentional in their insensitive ideals, and, at least for me, it often goes unchecked because I chalk it up to ignorance, experience, or lack of exposure.
S/o to my former Bayard colleague @joycelester17 for leading a great session designed to step up our instruction in Vocabulary! Great to connect again! #techcsd
So... @katy_corey says that "this is why you go to stuff!"
