Kids might like you as a teacher for your personality, your charisma, your excitement and energy for what you do.
But they’ll respect you for your character, your courage, your standing for equality, justice, and truth even when it’s uncomfortable.
Data shows me where my students are struggling and where they’re winning. But it also shows me what areas I can improve and also where my team is rocking it so I can go learn what they’re doing!

I hold myself accountable for Ss’ failure as much as I hold them accountable. We reflect together on what I can do better as a teacher to help and what they can do as a student to help themselves. I want them to succeed & sometimes that means changing what I’m doing. #mrmavchat
For me, a “kindred spirit” is someone who loves kids… someone who appreciates teachers… someone who believes in the power of collaboration… someone who understands the value of positive energy… and someone who embraces the potential for educators to make a difference!
