A superyacht belonging to Russian billionaire Alexey Mordashov passed through the Strait of Hormuz despite ongoing restrictions on maritime traffic in the region.
According to vessel tracking data from MarineTraffic, the 142-meter Nord superyacht departed Dubai on April 24 and is heading for Oman. The vessel traveled through the strait on a route south of Larak Island, NBC News reported.
Mordashov, the yacht's owner, is the chairman of Severstal company and Russia's richest individual, with an estimated net worth of $37 billion. The Nord, built by the German shipyard Lürssen, was re-registered in Russia following the introduction of Western restrictions against the billionaire.
🔷 In addition, an analysis of MarineTraffic data shows that two US-sanctioned vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Friday night:
◾️ Ocean Jet tanker, implicated in the sale of Iranian drones;
◾️ the Curacao-flagged Lumina Ocean tanker, part of Iran's "shadow fleet."
