Before the MAHSR project, India did not have indigenous (Full Span Launching Methodology) FSLM technology.

Today, the FSLM equipment and machinery like Straddle Carrier or Girder Transporter being used for the MAHSR project are being manufactured entirely in Chennai, India.
Only a handful of countries have developed this capability domestically.

Ultimately, the MAHSR project is acting as a major catalyst for making India self-reliant in advanced construction tech. Next is indigenously built TBM

It's a shame no major film has been made about Biju Patnaik. He lived a life that sounds almost fictional:

In 1938, he flew his entire wedding procession by aircraft to Rawalpindi for his marriage to Gyanwati Sethi (who became the first Indian woman to hold a commercial pilot’s license, and the couple later flew daring missions together.)

While serving in the Royal Indian Air Force (including as head of Air Transport Command), he secretly ferried freedom fighters like Jayaprakash Narayan, Ram Manohar Lohia, and Aruna Asaf Ali to their hideouts. He also airdropped 'Quit India' leaflets to Indian troops while evacuating British families.

The British once jailed him for transporting nationalist leaders and distributing anti-British literature but also honored him for bravery in evacuating civilians from Japanese-occupied Burma.

During WWII, he flew daring missions delivering arms and supplies to Soviet forces in Stalingrad, and over the treacherous 'Hump' route to China in
support of Chinese Nationalist forces against the Japanese.

In July 1947, he and his wife flew a Dakota into Indonesia, landed on an improvised airstrip while evading Dutch anti-aircraft fire, rescued Prime Minister Sutan Sjahrir, refuelled using abandoned Japanese fuel, and flew him safely to India via Singapore.

A couple of months later, during the Pakistani invasion of Kashmir, he airlifted one of the first Indian troops into Srinagar.

The same year he founded Kalinga Airlines, one of India's earliest private airlines.

As Odisha CM post-1962 India-China war, he secretly visited CIA headquarters at Langley to forge a covert India-US partnership against China, which led to the Aviation Research Centre (ARC) at Charbatia, which supported U-2 recon missions over Tibet.

He was also a legendary administrator and statesman, laying much of the foundation of Odisha's industrial empire (mines, ports, heavy industries etc).

When he passed away, Indonesia observed 7 days of state mourning. Russia observed 1 day. He remains the only person in Indian history whose body was draped in the national flags of 3 nations - India, Indonesia, and Russia.

Few public figures have left such a footprint.

His extraordinary life needs to be brought to the big screen.

Electrification works are advancing steadily along the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train Project, with Overhead Electrification (OHE) mast installation progressing across multiple stretches of the corridor.

A Made in Mysuru product that can turn your regular bicycle into an electric one in 5-10 minutes!

When we visited SJCE STEP in Mysuru for our meetup two weeks ago, we happened to meet Nishanth Patel, the founder of Karnad Engineering.

What Nishant and his team had built was fascinating. They had developed an small tiny apparatus that can be plugged into a regular bicycle and turn it into an electric bicycle in 5-10 minutes! What made it even more remarkable was that the entire product had been engineered, built, and assembled in Mysuru. They are a proud startup incubated at SJCE Science & Technology Entrepreneurs Park (STEP) led by @shivashankar_10.

Nishant's story was so compelling that we immediately decided to do a short recording with him, turn it into an Instagram reel, and publish it on Mundhe Banni Instagram profile.

The response was unbelievable.

Within just two days, the reel had grossed nearly 500,000 views, and Nishant's inbox is flooded with more than 200+ product inquiries.

Yesterday, Nishant messaged me saying that just a week earlier, the team had been feeling low. But suddenly, after receiving 200 plus inquiries, the entire team's energy had changed. They were excited, motivated, and ready to push harder than ever before.

The video also caught the attention of several founders in our network. @vivekanandahr of Bounce reached out and asked to be connected with Nishant. We happily did that.

Moments like these strengthen my belief that there is immense talent, ingenuity, and capability spread across Tier 2 and Tier 3 India. There are people building world class products and breakthrough technologies far away from the traditional startup hotspots. What many of them lack is not talent. What they lack is visibility, exposure, access, and sometimes the cultural confidence to believe that they belong in the same conversation.

Given the right platform and support, they too can build great companies and create meaningful impact at scale. I am 100% sure of that.

And if, in our own small way, we can help accelerate that journey, create a few opportunities, make a few introductions, or shine a light on a deserving founder, there is a deep sense of satisfaction in that. 🫶

Unlocking the potential in tier2/3 India requires a very different approach. It cannot be done through the conventional playbook alone. The realities, aspirations, constraints, and strengths of these entrepreneurs are different. There is also a huge role of language and cultural context involved in bridging the confidence gap. The support systems we build for them must be different too.

That belief is at the heart of why we are building @mundhebanni.
