3rd graders are learning about Magnetoreception (a sense which allows an organism to detect the Earth’s magnetic field) before creating a turtle compass. They magnetized a paper clip & placed it on a boat. The 🧲 pull of the clip allows the turtle to face North @OakRidgeMagnet

The Oak Ridge Arcade popped up at school this morning! 4th and 5th graders designed and built arcade games and pinball machines, and invited K-3 learners to give their games a try. Big shoutout to @MrWaltersSTEM for making this annual event a reality!

All grades have been coding these past few weeks. STEM leaders have been helping guide younger students to write and understand algorithms. Younger grades have been using Code Spark and https://t.co/PYRIvr79ci. Older grades are using Scratch to create games.

How do we reward ourselves for our weeks of Buckthorn removal? A fun day of STEM stations, of course! 5th grade got to explore STEM through team activities, robotics, VR, Pinball, and more! Needless to say, they loved it.
