One of the biggest mistakes AI users make is picking a favorite model and sticking with it.
You settle on Claude. Or ChatGPT. Or whatever your first good experience was. Then you ask every question to the same model.
The problem: the best AI answer depends entirely on what you're asking.
Different models were trained on different data. They have different blind spots. They excel at different kinds of thinking.
Claude handles nuance and reasoning well. It catches edge cases other models miss. But it can be cautious, sometimes frustratingly slow to take a stance.
ChatGPT is fast and direct. It'll give you a clear answer without hedging. Great for brainstorming and quick takes. But it can oversimplify complex tradeoffs.
Gemini has different training priorities. DeepSeek approaches logic differently. Grok has its own flavor.
Ask a coding question and one model might write tighter logic. Ask for creative writing and another shines. Ask about a contested topic and watch how differently they frame the same issue.
Here's what matters: you don't see that difference when you only use one model.
You get one answer. It sounds confident. You assume it's right. You move on.
But if you'd asked the same question to three other models, you might have seen:
- What they all agree on (real consensus)
- Where they disagree (the actual complexity)
- What assumptions break the answer
- Which reasoning is sharper
That visibility changes what you trust.
The best AI users don't have a favorite model. They have questions. And they know which models tend to handle which kinds of thinking better.
If you're making a real decision, the answer matters enough to get multiple perspectives first.
One AI answer is what that one model thinks. Multiple answers are what the best current thinking looks like.
