On the question of whether humanity is good or not, it is important to remember that sin is not essential to human nature. We only became enemies of God and “children of wrath” after falling from our high and royal station.

For some time I have been concerned about the TULIP acronym being used as a summary of the entire Reformed confession. This was never the case prior to the early twentieth century, when these five points were formulated. By starting with total depravity and ending with the preservation of the saints, the arc of God’s plan for the ages from creation to glorification is narrowed. But what is the nature that has fallen, and what is the hope for its restoration?

If we skip over humanity’s goodness in creation, we will not only miss the goodness that persists in the world (because the fall could not entirely eradicate our participation in the Good), we will miss out on what our telos has been from the very beginning.

In creation, we are “crowned with glory” by nature but not yet glorified by grace. Now in justification, we are given an external glory—the beauty of Christ as our righteousness. In sanctification, the Spirit begins to conform us to the image of Christ. And in glorification, we will not only be crowned with the goodness we had before our fall, but as Paul says, the Lord Jesus Christ “will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body” (Phil. 3:21).

In glorification, our telos is finally realized, where we will be made inwardly and outwardly, in soul and in body, the most beautiful creatures in the universe.

Last night @GovernorShapiro signed HB 301, which expands Pennsylvania's tax credit scholarship programs by $150 million.

This is the largest increase in the program's history, and will provide scholarships for thousands of additional students.
