When Elon first went to Russia to buy rockets, the people he met treated him like a naive young man who did not understand the industry. They saw an internet entrepreneur asking serious questions about space hardware and did not take him seriously.

He left without a deal. Instead of stopping, he read everything he could on rocketry, propulsion and engineering, and kept talking to people who actually understood the subject.

Years later the result stands next to him. Reusable rockets, regular orbital launches, and a company that changed what the industry thought was possible. Being underestimated did not slow him down. It forced him to go deeper into the problem until the outcome was impossible to ignore.
