whilst it’s a valid conversation to highlight the double standards with off campus vs heated rivalry, i do think a lot of people aren’t realising that heated rivalry intentionally distanced themselves from the real NHL (and is still doing so) to allow them to tell the story that’s critical of the organisation. they chose not to use real team names, the nhl didn’t “refuse” to let them. they intentionally never asked because they want to be unrestricted in their criticism.
