HUGE thank you to the operators @MCRMetrolink - waving at my nephew seeing *real* trams for the first time - especially the driver we sat behind yesterday, giving thumbs up when he could hear Teddy guessing what the different controls did. You made this little boy's weekend!
Reading @BooksandChokers on the bus into town. Passed the coffee shop I've wanted to try but haven't since I'm not cool enough and don't know the rules. Went in, cause its what Keeds would do. Even took a sofa seat. Pistachio croissant is fiiiiiiiine ๐ #BooksMatter
I've not been able to get this out of my head all week. This is why reading for pleasure is SO important - this chappie has found his gateway books and now there's no looking back! (Plus the idea of him and mum playing Dogman is adorable)

@brassoteach No decent free reading books! And less / no practical science lessons as I usually by resources myself. Lower quality of lesson input (eg no live modelling of writing on flip chart paper) ...
@Gwenelope In advance, and make sure they know what your cancellation policies are (eg no refund if less than 24 hours).
Most people won't give you any hassle but you'll get the odd one who will make you thankful that you didn't give them an inch!
Manchester Teacher meet up was just what we needed before the start of term. Lovely to meet these wonderful ladies, lucky dip, walking plans and Bertie came too! #makeadifference
@kariebookish get not wanting to discard, but think it could be hard to get them super smooth with no raspyness or mis-shaping. I bent my legendary knitter nan's aluminium & plastic straight needles into bangles for her grandkids: you could buy a new pair and upcycle the old somehow?
@davelouca @MichaelT1979 Same. The 11+ is so different to what they might have encountered in schools. I don't tutor SATs - just try to reassure parents that they are to measure the school, not the child! I think families overestimate what they might be used for
@davelouca @MichaelT1979 I tutor as a side hussle, get lots of approaches for SATs. We do 11+ here too but the timings are different (11+ Sept, private school independant exams Jan/Feb), so most of the parents are very specific, I don't think you can conflate 11+/SATs tutoring demand as the same
