⭐️📚Baldwin Stocker students may be leaders at school, but are they leaders everywhere they go? The first-of-its-kind Leader in Me Family Fun Night was filled with activities centered around the 7 Habits. Hear from students, teachers, and parents about the event! @AUSDBULLDOGS
It was Great ShakeOut time today! 10/19 at 10:19 a.m., Arcadia Unified joined millions of people across the state and country to practice the “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” method in response to earthquakes during today’s Great ShakeOut Emergency Preparedness Drill. We have proudly participated in this annual national earthquake drill every year since its inception in 2008. The safety of our students and staff will always be our highest priority, making preparedness training very important to us.
Here are some video highlights of what this drill looked like at Baldwin Stocker Elementary School, where our students and staff had the opportunity to practice realistic scenarios that might occur after an earthquake strikes. From students practicing securing cover under their desks to rescue crews practicing their routes across campus and much more in between, our Bulldogs did an outstanding job following their safety plans and procedures today!
We thank everyone for their meaningful participation in this statewide and nationwide Great ShakeOut Drill. As we all anticipate and are watching the storm closely, we wanted to let you know that we will be sending a message to all families and posting it on our website sometime tomorrow or tomorrow evening with more information about our schools and the impact of the storm. Our maintenance and operations crews have been working for the past couple of days in preparation for the storm, and as it gets closer, and we know more throughout the day tomorrow, we will communicate with everyone what to expect for Monday’s school day.
In any type of natural disaster, the last thing we want to do is close schools, as we know families may need a place to go. So, while we may need to make some adjustments as a result of any potential damage that may occur, we will be making every effort to keep all schools open to ensure students can have a safe place to go if needed.
To reiterate, as of now, we are planning on having all schools open and operational on Monday, and we will communicate with everyone sometime tomorrow with the very latest information.
Sincerely,
Arcadia Unified School District
