I think after sitting on it I can finally point out to WHY I dislike Jax as a character.
In almost every story there’s something called a “save the cat moment”. Essentially it’s when a flawed character commits a small act of kindness to get the audience to care about them
@LaikaIsHopeless It really does suck that there wasn’t enough time given to this part of her character too. Like with this context the scene where Jax is being ripped from his skin makes sense. But from my memory these are the only times before episode 9 where this was thought about
@LaikaIsHopeless I’ve been watching the show since the first episode came out, I’m not the most involved in the fandom but I’ve genuinely never heard this theory before this episode 😭
All in all I think there were parts of this show that were great, but I really think so many flaws were made. I see aspects of good storytelling yet I critique it because I want better for both the creator of tadc and for storytellers as a whole.
Or maybe it’s just 4am lmao
Like ragathas scene at the table, gangles scene with all the people laughing. It genuinely feels like we just had a scrap of these characters given to us just so we can all get more Jax
