@GuyLambertUK@DrFrancesRyan Thanks. Is there a difference in meaning tho? Is it not still a pejorative insult to imply low intelligence=bad thing? I agree it’s used casually, but also would argue that’s the problem. Language can and should evolve as awareness of its impact changes, it does all the time
@GuyLambertUK@DrFrancesRyan The point isn’t to care about offending those people, though. The point is to care about learning disabled people for whom these words are offensive and ableist slurs, the use of which demonises and hurts them. We can find better words, is surely the point here?
@makedoandSEND Do you know of Prof Helen Cross? She’s at GOSH and if can’t help herself will likely know someone who can. She helped us hugely. Prof Sameer Zuberi (Glasgow) presented at this years annual BPNA conf on a clinical trial for LGS - might be worth a try?x
In a former life I once spent a week travelling the country with Noddy Holder(long story). At every service station he was asked to belt out ‘It’s Christmaaas’, and he always obliged graciously even though it was September. Now I see why 😳 👏 😂 Legend 💫 https://t.co/sL58jQhdOX
We created this - this year! 🤯 If you’re spending time outdoors over the festive period and are able to get to calderstones park, worth taking a min or two to get lost in literature and landscape 🌲 📚
