Congratulations are in order for Lesley Ayers-Baines as she will be the Coordinator of Digital Learning. It is because of her leadership and experience that we believe she will do great things in this role.
Teacher Appreciation Week
If people truly understood what teachers do…
we wouldn’t need a week for this.
It would be every day.
Because this job asks more of you than people realize.
It’s patience when you’re exhausted.
It’s showing up when it would be easier not to.
It’s believing in kids on the days they don’t believe in themselves.
It’s the quiet kid you don’t give up on.
The tough kid you keep showing up for.
The moment a student finally thinks… maybe I can.
That’s the work.
And it matters more than people realize.
So thank you.
For caring the way you do.
For showing up the way you do.
For the difference you make in the lives of your students!
Different cultures. One community.
This morning at Taste of Alief, it wasn’t just about food—it was about people.
The people who show up.
The people who give.
The people who pour into our students every single day.
Grateful for every hand, every heart, every smile that made this happen.
This is Alief. One of a kind.

This is my favorite part of being in education—pouring into our students so they know their future is bright. 💕✨ This conference was all about girl power: empowering, uplifting, and affirming.

Is teaching a profession? Here’s the real definition.
A profession is defined by six things:
Specialized training
A unique body of knowledge
Clear standards and ethics
Professional judgment
Service to society
Ongoing development
Teaching meets EVERY ONE of those criteria.
So why do some people act like it’s not a profession?
Because we’ve spent years undermining the very things that make it a profession:
We scripted teachers.
We standardized everything.
We minimized expertise.
We paid professionals inadequately.
We gave more criticism than respect.
But the truth is this:
Teaching is a profession.
In fact, It’s the profession that makes every other profession possible.
