So thankful to feel the love sent to our teachers from West High School Student Council today!!! The switch to virtual is definitely difficult and it’s nice to feel the support from students and teachers at West. #beepbeep#OneWestLove#OneKnox#allinforkids@ashley_speas
Echoing all the prayers being sent up for Austin East tonight. This is heartbreaking.
And in between those prayers, let’s remember that we have the power to vote for leaders committed to enacting change, to educate ourselves, and to join in the work.
This shouldn’t happen.
Eternally impressed at the talent in our theatre/chorale departments! Bright Star was incredible!
Also big shoutout to vaccines—this was my first live performance of a thing in over a year and yes I did cry MANY times. ❤️
We did it!! Student Council Teacher Appreciation breakfast—best day of the year.
(Also slightly feel like we just lifted a curse?? The last thing I did pre-covid was plan this event last year...and then it never happened because school got cancelled forever)
“I use what I was taught: if you accidentally step on someone’s foot, you don’t ever say “Oh stop crying, that wasn’t my intention.” You apologize, acknowledge the pain you caused, and exist more carefully and intentionally.”
Friendly reminder that if something isn’t offensive to YOU, that doesn’t mean it’s not offensive.
Activist Rachel Cargle explains it best when she says:
Kicked off year 6 today with Freshmen Orientation! Great to meet some of my new students, and thankful that so many of them did a wonderful job wearing their masks appropriately!
