Day 4 featured a lecture by Prof. Arthur van Coller on the principles of IHL and the notion of direct participation in hostilities.

Day 1 of the All Africa Course on International Humanitarian Law is underway at @go2uj .Participants from across Africa are coming together to learn, exchange ideas and deepen their understanding of #IHL and how it protects humanity in times of armed conflict.

There are now around 130 armed conflicts worldwide, far more than in the 90s. Too often, the rules meant to protect civilians are ignored. The #GHLI initiative aims to reverse this trend and strengthen states’ commitment to upholding the rules of war. #IHLSeminar
