Today is National Atomic Veterans Awareness Day
Today we remember. We remember whom aren’t with us anymore but also who are still here.
On the 1st October nuclear associations and charities came together with nuclear veterans and their families and we remembered the sacrifices of the community with a service at the NMA. It was a lovely day with a slight breeze, the sun shining and the memorial stone front and centre.
Nuclear veterans and their families sat while the Very Revd Nicholas Frayling spoke so fondly of the community.
The last post played by the wonderful Antonio and wreaths were laid. Thank you Terry and Malcolm with one of our Directors laying a wreath.
We then all sat and chatted while eating cake drinking tea with laughter and maybe our youngest attendee charming everyone with her smile.
Today is a day to remember but we remember everyday.
May they rest in peace
I worked with Farage from 1999-2003 when he was first elected as an MEP, sharing an office with him in Strasbourg. I stayed at his home, travelled with him, dined and entertained when we were in Europe, and worked with him in the UK.
Outwardly charming, he is in fact a vindictive, aggressive bully, with a huge chip on his shoulder. He is intolerant of criticism, has no loyalty to anyone, and will shaft anyone who disagrees with him, gets in his way or poses a threat (usually by underhand means, via third parties).
I am not surprised, therefore, that you have come to your view. Most people who have been close to Farage feel the same way and would not trust him in the slightest. Many more will come to the same conclusion, and eventually the Farage bubble will burst. I hope it does so before he does even more damage.
Farage: "We are not sovereign until we leave the ECHR."
The only European countries outside the ECHR are Russia and Belarus.
For the UK to quit the ECHR would be to hand a huge victory to Putin in his war against human rights and international law.
Farage continues his treasonous collaboration in Putin's war against democracy, freedom, and human rights. He is a traitor, and that is the biggest issue by far in today's British politics.
When someone is in danger at sea, #RNLI crews don’t ask who they are, where they come from or if they deserve to be saved. They go to help.
I’ve written about why that matters so much this week, and why I’m so proud to volunteer with @RNLIBrighton 🛟❤️

The exact opposite of what Labour heavyweight, Denis Healey, said in 1969:
“Once we cut defence expenditure to the extent where our security is imperilled, we have no houses, we have no hospitals, we have no schools. We have a heap of cinders.”
@ForcesNews My father was serving in a frigate during exercises with a US super-carrier in the late 1950s when a British submarine caused great embarrassment when it concealed itself below the carrier for the entire duration of the exercise.
Since its foundation in 1824 the bravery of Royal National Lifeboat Institution volunteers has saved more than 146,700 lives at sea.
Hundreds of those volunteers have died attempting to save others. They are the best of us.
Any person or organisation questioning their actions or loyalty to this country should be corrected and ostracised.
Anyone can drown, but no one should.

If you’re anti-RNLI save yourself the bother - block me now
My Dad - former Royal Navy - was such a strong supporter of #RNLI we had his name painted onto the side of a RNLI lifeboat to commemorate him
Everyone who serves in the RNLI is a hero, risking their lives for others
Seeing the hatred directed towards the RNLI right now is perhaps one of the most depressing things on Twitter this year. It also exposes the incredible ignorance of some people who don't seem to understand their purpose, their funding model or indeed even their name (RNLA?!?).
The @rnli are the best of us. Skilled and courageous volunteers who put themselves into harms way, at a moment's notice, to save those in distress at sea.
If you think people and institutions like that are the problem in our nation, then you need to give your head a wobble ⚓
An mRNA vaccine for colorectal cancer failed
This is why trials are done. If it doesn't work..it is canned.
And it's extraordinary to see anti vaxxers sneer and celebrate this, whilst the rest of us are disappointed that a potential treatment turned out not to work
🔥 🔥 WATCH 👀 This is dynamite from former Clacton MP Charles Watling.
“I said about 14 years ago that Nigel Farage was the most dangerous man in British politics, and he has proved to be so.”
Watling then points to the extraordinary irony:
Farage spent years campaigning for Brexit, taking Britain out of European asylum arrangements and now uses the Channel crossings crisis as political fuel.
Create the problem. Campaign on the consequences.
@AllisonPearson Burnham in Makerfield: contested by all main parties.
Farage in Clacton: main opponent was Count Binface (c. 25% of votes cast)
