@PSMS206M has created opportunities with the “I AM…Project” for our school community to get to know each other better, discover how much we have in common and appreciate our differences.

In December we established our student govt. 84 scholars in grades 3-8 applied to be class representative and/or grade president. They wrote speeches, created campaign posters, had photo ops, and recorded their speeches. (1/2)
If only the level of judicial discretion the judge used in the #KimPotter sentencing was used in cases like the Central Park 5 (Exonerated 5), Kalief Browder, the thousands of young Black kids with no criminal record, who get sentences that land them in prison for decades
It’s been 1 week since our @PSMS206M “I Am” celebration and reflecting on what I was reminded of that day:
1) Kids innately know how to be in and build community. They are observant, kind, and supportive.
If this is not joy, I don’t know what is… Homecoming Tiger Day at @PSMS206M! Our students enjoyed a fun filled day with outdoor activities, music (a live Dj) and Ice cream. Some student said it was the “best day ever.” @206MPrincipal@PaulForbesNYC show me your dance moves 💃🏽.
There was a lot of “let’s learn from this pandemic” and “reimagining schooling” but yet somehow the system returned completely back to normal & in some ways worse. Remind me again, how we launch a strong school year in just two days w/staff and as guidance is still forthcoming?!
