Thank you @Wipebook for sponsoring our session @wrdsb PD Session on Reading in Gr 9 Single Streamed English Classrooms. Great things happen when book lovers collaborate #wipebook
@dog_rates@PawsofFuryMovie Ozzie dreams of becoming a @WWE superstar. Here you can see him practicing one of his favourite “tricks”, the sit on my sister’s head until she submits pin. Has he got a shot? His wrestling name - Ozzie “King of the Outback” NOTE: This photo was taken “out back” of my house. 😉
@DarkHartBooks @paulGtremblay A Head Full of Ghost still remains the most frightening book I’ve read in recent years. Gave me nightmares for days after I finished it. That being said @SGJ72 The Only Good Indian also rocked me - literally had to put the book down and walk away a few times.
@Em_Shotwell Reading is reading. Studies suggest the more diverse a person’s reading experience, in relation to subject, genre and form, the better their brain health, and socio emotional skills such as empathy. My slogan with students (and other educators) is Good Readers Read Widely. 2/2
@Em_Shotwell I’m the English Head at my school and I gave the exact opposite speech today. Our department has worked to curate a library of graphic texts that students across Gr 9-12 can enjoy and engage with. Also, I fully encourage the use of audiobooks and incorporate them into class. 1/2
@KealanBurke I found a copy of Carrie in my middle school library and devoured it. It inspired my love of @StephenKing and horror as a genre. I followed it up with The Amityville Horror, The Exorcist and Interview with a Vampire. My parents were just happy I was reading rather than dating!
@TeneileWarren I am so sorry that you are having to deal with such horrible, horrible ppl. I literally have set aside 30 minutes night since Tuesday to scroll through feeds of comments to report accounts. But, that’s not enough - time for more of us to step up and get loud.
