Giving my classroom gluesticks human names has been revolutionary. Does a student care if a glue stick goes missing? No! Do they care if DEREK the glue stick has not been returned? ABSOLUTELY. It’s like a manhunt until Derek has been returned to his rightful spot.
Bringing our boat designs to life today, to continue our learning about buoyancy, was time very well spent. Lots of fun, laughter, thinking and problem-solving. Way to go, 2-3!
It was so wonderful chatting with so many wonderful families tonight, as well as students past and present! What a great opportunity to celebrate our awesome AVPS community! So much cotton candy fuelled excitement in the air! Thank you for a great fun fair and open house!
In 2-3, we know that it’s not just okay to be different. It is wonderful to be unique and different! We are stronger when we embrace our differences and learn from each other! I loved learning about what makes each student unique!
Working together in groups to determine the problem and solution in the book Scaredy Squirrel Makes a Friend. The students did a great job of writing and sharing their ideas with their classmates.
We can work on our data and still learn about one another! Today we completed a pictograph, tally chart, and bar graph about how we get home. We used this data to answer questions about our class’ after school routines.
This week we are learning about Rosh Hashanah! Many of the students made personal connections from their own traditions to the Rosh Hashanah traditions that we discussed. I love watching these connections form!
We had our first art class today. Before beginning, we read a personal favourite, Ish, that teaches us that perfection is overrated and that we should embrace the “ish”in our life and work. Always a great lesson before starting art!
