Being very intentional about routines—and giving students a chance to practice them authentically—can set the stage for a fun and functional classroom all year long. 🤩
I had a student who accidentally spilled food from his thermos all over the floor in my classroom. I immediately went to grab paper towels and cleaning supplies. The student said, “Oh but Ms. K you should call the custodian. That’s not our job.” I stopped for a moment and smiled. I said to him, “When you are part of a school community it’s everyone’s job to help out when needed. We can all lend a helping hand and we should.” He got up and grabbed some paper towels and began to help me with the clean up. It was absolutely awesome! #StarfishClub #X
