@Elisabeth13 I’m in South Carolina visiting my family right now. I actually attended high school here for 2 years, and I remember that a 90 was a B. I would be so angry that I had A/B honor roll here, but straight A’s if I was in TX.

Juneteenth is a holiday commemorating the day when the last enslaved African Americans were finally informed of their freedom. It is also called Freedom Day, Emancipation Day, or Juneteenth Independence Day.

Juneteenth has its roots in Galveston, Texas, where General Gordon Granger arrived on June 19, 1865, with a Union Army force of 2,000 troops. Granger announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in Texas were free by executive decree. This was two years after President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation declared that all enslaved people in Confederate-held territory were to be freed.

It is a time to reflect on past struggles, celebrate present achievements, and look toward the future with hope. 🖤

Do you serve, host, or sponsor a student-centered club or organization in the DFW area? If so, I would love to speak to your young group and equip them with tools and resources to help them prepare for the next school year and/or their post-high school plans!

GLOW: The educator that inspires me 🤩 is @MrsSedberryJr because she is an ⭐️Exemplar Teacher ⭐️that goes above and beyond for her students. She even created an app for her ASL class so students have resources available at all times. #DLday @DigitalGISD @AslSachse #GISDchat
