The massive Borena Water Supply Project, is transforming lives across the East Borena and Borena zones by providing communities with reliable access to clean water.
Through the development of thousands of kilometers of pipelines, resilient infrastructure, advanced pumping stations, and large-scale reservoirs, we are doing more than combating drought. We are safeguarding public health, strengthening livelihoods, and unlocking agricultural potential for generations to come.
I express my sorrow over the loss of the lives of our citizens who died due to the sudden landslide disaster that occurred as a result of the Belg rains in Gacho Baba and other districts of the Gamo Zone in the South Ethiopia Region. The government will continue to provide the necessary support to our affected fellow citizens. Appropriate studies and work must also be carried out to resolve the problem in a sustainable manner. Preventive measures are also necessary.
An annual tradition
On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, we hosted members of the less fortunate in our society for the annual Iftar dinners. Tonight’s fast was broken with a spirit of compassion, unity, and community.
It is my greatest pleasure to warmly welcome H.E. President @RTErdogan of the Republic of Türkiye to the Land of Origins on his official visit. Our exchange of visits reflects the strength of the deep partnership between Türkiye and Ethiopia.
From Ankara to Addis Ababa, I look forward to productive discussions that will further deepen cooperation and strengthen the enduring bonds between our two ancient nations.
It is my great honour and pleasure to welcome Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to Ethiopia as we co-host the Second Italy–Africa Summit.
This occasion represents more than a diplomatic gathering; it symbolizes the deepening partnership between Italy and African nations; a partnership grounded in mutual respect, shared responsibility, and a common vision for sustainable growth. Prime Minister Meloni’s visit underscores our collective commitment to strengthening cooperation across trade, investment, energy, infrastructure, agriculture, and innovation.
As we host this summit in Addis Ababa, we reaffirm our readiness to work with Italy, with our African brothers’ and sisters, and with all partners committed to turning strategic dialogue into development outcomes that improve lives.
