@marymcintyre …just a bit too short….55/60 min would be just about right. Discipline referrals from classrooms drops on 7 pd/day. But I’ll bar none take ANY schedule that lets me see the kids everyday. 7 period or 4x4…I’ll take either over AB block. Retention, flow, focus all improve
@marymcintyre I think I’ve taught on just about every schedule. They all have pros and cons. The drawbacks of 7 period/day center around the number of transitions/day (which increases the number of fights and exacerbates skipping…cuz, more time in the halls). As a teacher, I found 45 min…

@SarahBreckley Sidewalk chalk is also a favorite secret lesson plan…we’d do the bus loop near Election Day with voter information, Constitution Day, and you can make anything a review game if you teach them hopscotch (with chalk)… 🖍️ 🖍️
I had a principal years ago who used to walk around before holiday breaks and tell us t’s to “just keep the lid on it”. Every year at this time, I am reminded why….
@yesthatteacher@mrsldwelsh The tictoc and screens…kids are just passengers. Passive. Kids today don’t read—which is the most tremendous builder of focus and thinking. Screens have become the tool of choice for parents and teachers and it’s not doing our kids any good.
