The codex is just fabulous, the images are incredible, and the text remarkably legible. It was originally three documents, bound together: a narrative of Tlaxcalan history by Camargo, a pictographic history of 156 drawings, and a response to Crown questions about the region. 4/
For me seeing the codex was another #DisplacedIndigeneity highlight! You can even find the codex on twitter @MsHunter242, where they've tweeted some pics of our visit. @uofglibrary were kind enough to share some the book's history as well as how it's been recently restored. 3/
And everyone was clamouring - when will you be digitally available to us, so we can admire you to our heart's content? It will be soon my amigos (is that not so @gj_kemp ?)!
I think it is fair to say that everyone was enthralled by me. Thanks @JuliaMcClure_ @GardhamJulie@keiramckee for the intros this morning. No, I haven't given up all my secrets yet. But that is because I want YOU to delve into me more. Calendar wheels anyone?
Haven't I been quiet lately! But looks like I am coming out of my box for a workshop tomorrow - can't wait to meet everyone @JuliaMcClure_ Meanwhile @GardhamJulie has updated my catalogue description AT LAST https://t.co/6cLaswB58a
Trying to make sense of William Hunter’s poss acquisition of Tlaxcala Historia @MsHunter242 via Isaac De Pinto, a Dutch merchant - see note (H227) referring to a 1623 Seville edition by Antoine orosco? De la Vega. Not found in Iberian books. Any clues anyone? #Provenance 🧐
@StephanieW58982@TAHG_Glasgow Hi Stephanie - thaks for your interest in me! Yes - all photos will be made available via new digital portal in the coming months & available to researchers
V excited that some of my calendar #Pigments are to be analysed for an @TAHG_Glasgow dissertation project over the summer. Some preliminary measuring up going on here & I can't wait to get started!
Look what has just turned up in our #RareBook BE cataloguing backlog @JuliaMcClure_ @MsHunter242 - a 1901 facsimile of this mega Aztec #Manuscript: come & ask for Sp Coll BE6-a.9 if you can't make it to @NML_Muse Liverpool to see the original https://t.co/OdclCpWeLD
Who do I spy with my little eye here? Shout out of thanks to @MMMargarita3 for sending me this special journal issue dedicated to el Lienzo de Tlaxcala #CompareandContrast
Look who appears as a case study on the @TheNMCT website! I'm getting to be quite famous, don't you think? You can read all about me here: https://t.co/XzTGhdiAnn #BookConservation#FameAtLast
Do you remember when I used to look like this? Our @keiramckee did a recap on my project to my v own special interest group yesterday. Because this is not the end - all sorts of chat about workshops & digital projects & future research. Sounds like I'm going to be busy!!
So my @TheNMCT#Conservation project is now officially completed and reported! I'm v pleased with myself but my friends will be glad to know it doesn't mean a totally restored #NewMe - check out the remnants of my past gloriously gauffered & incised fore-edge preserved here
