I’ll say it.. today was hard. We all knew it was coming, but it still hurts. I miss my students. I wasn’t ready to let go of my 8th graders. We had so many memories left to make.

A boy I had last year as a 7th grader really struggled w/ his writing. I have him now as an 8th grader. Today he read his essay about veterans to the whole school after it was recognized as one of the top essays among the entire 8th grade. SO proud. Hard work DOES pay off.

One of my students told me that he told another one of my students how the story ended that we’re reading in class, & the other student almost cried. Where were they having this discussion? At baseball practice 😂 Chattin about Flowers for Algernon while hitting baseballs. ♥️ it.

Highlight of my day: watching two 8th graders have a semi- heated argument with each other over identifying the type of conflict in the plot. 1. Hysterical & 2. They were defending their reasoning & supporting their claims without even realizing it 😅

Today my students had an assignment due that had several components. They get a week, but it can be intimidating.. at first. I asked all my students for feedback on how it went. My 7th graders LOVED it and were *so* excited to get my feedback on their mini essays & annotations.

The #clearthelist movement has not only helped teachers get what they need to help their classroom/ students thrive, but it has brought people outside of education into the conversation. The positivity & support that has come out of it, from what I’ve seen, has been incredible.

Fantastic PBIS kickoff to end our first week at school!!! It was awesome to see our staff put together such a wonderful program. I was fortunate enough to get the “Bathroom Station” which was interesting to say the least. #VikingsLearn
