[Market Bubble Ep.11 RECAP]
huge shoutout to @blknoiz06 and @Banks for putting together this 5 hrs marathon, easily one of the most insightful crypto podcasts i've listened to in a while.
here are the biggest takeaways (my pov):
1) creator coins could become a new asset class
> creator economy and crypto are starting to converge
> memecoins proved communities can create massive value
> creator economy proved creators can build sustainable businesses
> the next step is tokenizing creators and their communities
> $ANSEM feels like one of the first real experiments around this thesis
2) crypto could completely reshape the creator economy
> creators generate the value, platforms capture most of it
> tokenization allows communities to share in the upside
> attention, trust, and influence may eventually become investable assets
> the bigger vision is making creator economies operate like onchain economies
3) utility is what separates a creator coin from a memecoin
speculation gets attention, utility creates longevity.
some of the ideas discussed include:
> protocol partnerships
> fee sharing
> staggered airdrops
> brand collaborations
> an onchain social network of token holders
if executed well, the token becomes part of a much larger ecosystem instead of being driven purely by speculation.
4) why previous social token models struggled
> the concept wasn't wrong, the execution was
> friendtech and zora fragmented liquidity across too many speculative assets
> the stronger model is one token representing an entire creator ecosystem rather than thousands of individual assets
> network effects become much stronger when value accrues to a single asset
5) bitcoin may already have bottomed
> most bad news appears to be priced in
> onchain metrics continue making new highs
> robinhood, hyperliquid and institutions are still building
> meanwhile ct sentiment remains overwhelmingly bearish, which is often where bottoms form
6) trading content could drive the next wave of adoption
> crypto doesn't have a product problem
> it has a creator problem
> great traders who can also create engaging content will onboard millions of new users
> education and entertainment will become one of crypto's strongest growth engines
7) trading needs to be gamified
> memecoins exploded because they made investing fun
> trading needs the same experience
> ansem believes we'll eventually see something like "duolingo for trading"
> lowering the learning curve is one of the biggest opportunities in crypto
8) trading is the biggest MMORPG in the world
has everything gamers love:
> progression
> competition
> skill expression
> rewards
> leaderboards
it's no surprise that so many former gamers become successful traders.
9) robinhood is validating crypto's direction
> tokenized stocks
> layer 2
> perpetuals
robinhood is becoming one of the biggest bridges bringing millions of Web2 users onchain.
10) hyperliquid is becoming crypto's price discovery engine
> more pre-IPO markets are launching on Hyperliquid before public listings
> it's quickly becoming one of the best places for market based price discovery
> open markets are increasingly pricing assets faster than traditional finance
11) this playbook won't be easy to replicate
one thing became pretty clear throughout the podcast:
$ANSEM works because of Ansem, not the other way around.
he already has:
> 10+ years of credibility in crypto
> one of the largest and most engaged audiences on CT
> @MarketBubble
> @BullpenFi
> a highly engaged community
very few creators have all of those pieces working together.
that's why i don't think the opportunity is simply "launching creator coins."
the real opportunity is building investable creator ecosystems
[my favorite quote from the entire podcast]
"i'm going to create a diversified social network of token holders that will be extremely valuable for brands, both inside and outside crypto."
that one sentence probably captures the vision behind $ANSEM better than anything else. 🐂🀄️
