Remember when Kindergartners used to have partial days and still get naps—why would that not still be important? Even adults in business world take long lunches, miss an afternoon for golf or a ball game, yet we can’t let children have an extra recess or an occasional afternoon of play in school? Think of how much more they need it!
What I appreciate about @mr_Alsheimer is he address the real problem with education. Kids don’t need another reading or math textbook strategy, kids need to know they are loved and supported by their teachers! He understands the importance of kids’ internal motivation! Thank you!

I love teaching seventh graders. No, I don’t mean coaching teachers of 7th grade nor being an admin of seventh graders. I simply mean… I love being in the actual classroom TEACHING. I
While I understand if fluency is important to reading comprehension, I do believe there is a difference between mental reading fluency vs. read aloud in front of an audience fluency.Even as a teacher I will read something again to myself to comprehend something. Why is that bad?
