Calling it. With 75 out of 87 precincts reporting, Lucia Baez-Geller, with 60% of the vote, will be the new @mdcps School Board member for District 3.
“This is truly a testament to what a group of committed citizens can do with heart and soul and passion," she said.
🍎ENDORSEMENT ALERT🍎:
I am honored to receive the endorsement from @RuthsListFL. I am thankful for Ruth’s List support and look forward to working with them to ensure that our schools are a safe and welcoming place for all students and teachers. #LaProfesora#TeacherForAll
Those face shields sported by Jackson neurosurgeons and Miami Beach public officials on social media? The handiwork of 16-year-old twin brothers who attend Miami Beach Senior High.

This pandemic has already revealed that:
- schools are so much more than just schools.
- many people now realize how tough it is to be a teacher and that teachers are grossly underpaid.
- teachers are irreplaceable and essential to learning and education.

Thank you @GovRonDeSantis for eliminating testing. By doing that, you have relieved a huge burden for teachers and students. Also, as a HS teacher, you just gave me an extra MONTH of teaching, since May has been consumed by testing since the new, 2 day FSAs were released.
All statewide assessments, exams students would have to take for graduation purposes or for promotion, EOCs, SAT & ACT have been canceled. None of the assessments for seniors will be counted in their absence. To graduate, students will need to have required credit hours and GPA.
Per Governor @RonDeSantisFL, all Florida schools will remain closed until April 15, 2020, at which time a decision to re-open will be evaluated. #coronavirus
During school closures, students and families may pick up grab-and-go meals, both breakfast and lunch, between 9:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. We are continuing to work with community partners who have agreed to complement our efforts assist with feeding. #coronavirus
Coach Shaw is a wonderful coach, and paraprofessional, and I am quite disappointed in the bad, biased reporting done by the @MiamiHerald s education reporter. You clearly don’t have all the facts @Colleen_Wright and have ruined a man’s reputation.
"Back that up now: How did the traveling twerker and her crew of dozens get inside a public school gym? The school district says the [Miami Beach Senior High] Hi Tides boys’ basketball coach, Jacob Shaw, allowed them to use it."
Truly bizarre story.
🍎ENDORSEMENT ALERT🍎:
I am honored to receive the endorsement from Teamsters Local 769 & stand in solidarity with my fellow union sisters & brothers.
As a 15 year public school teacher & union steward, I understand the importance of advocating for the rights of my colleagues.
Ask any HS teacher, they will tell you they have the most behavior problems and apathy after lunch.
What about students who need after school jobs? What happens to time for homework? Will students miss more class to get to athletic events? @bccespedes

No more buses in the dark. Miami-Dade schools could start no earlier than 8 a.m. We at @MDCPS will engage every sector of the community in an honest conversation about this important topic. Your thoughts?@mdccptaptsa@CGCS@NSBAPublicEd@PublicSchoolSup https://t.co/cLYvt9ca5e
