Brilliant film at @sheffdocfest State of Silence, on impact of narco politics in Mexico where 100s journalists murdered for exposing the truth, creating ‘silent zones’. Makes clear the urgency of international support @rorypecktrust@CPJAmericas
Travelling across the country speaking to voters for our in-depth Fight for ‘24 series on @itvnews two things are most apparent:
1. Anger with the Conservative government, but…
2. Relative apathy about Labour being a significant improvement.
The comment we hear time and time again is “for the first time I just don’t feel like voting for anyone”.
It seems like Labour’s significant lead is potentially a soft one. If they’d had (or could still have) a dreadful campaign, you sense the polls could easily have narrowed.
But so far, it’s the Conservatives who seem to have baked in the Labour lead thanks to a haphazard campaign. Not to mention the complicating factor of Reform UK overtaking the Tories in one poll.
If on election night we end up saying Labour has ‘won’, I think a big part of that will really be that the Conservatives have ‘lost’.
EXCL: In his D Day interview - at a time of CCHQ’s choosing - Rishi Sunak sits down to discuss the personal & political.

Some of our journalists voices and images are being used in deep fakes. We spoke to Press Gazette about the worrying rise in the misuse of our material via gen AI
At ITN "one of the first risks that we identified around AI was to our reputation – that obviously the easier it is to make deepfakes, that puts our reputation at risk, because obviously our journalists would never promote a commercial good like that" https://t.co/J8jC6oZUGN
