This week has really highlighted to me the importance of making time for silly fun with our pupils. My face was still sore from laughing last night after spending some time with a child who, I think, really benefitted from just having fun after a tricky time.
I received the loveliest, most appreciative Christmas card from a parent today that made me cry. It genuinely meant the world to me. Parents, a thoughtful note or card is *so* appreciated by teachers.
Other things I don't want to stop doing just because the holidays are over - sea swimming, crocheting, and hanging out with my dog (and pals) in various watery places.
Back to work tomorrow - a jump up to a P5/6 class for me this year - and I have just finished my fourteenth book of the holidays, and 36th book of the year. Am determined to keep up my reading for the rest of 2024. It has been an excellent down time activity.
@sensiblestu@jrbadger29 Can we have a conversation about him undispensing with his facial hair please?
(Apologies if that doesn't make sense, I'm very tired).
Attempts to delay significant cuts to a celebrated school mentoring scheme have been rejected.
Labour wanted the cuts abandoned for the coming school year but SNP & Greens refused.

It's June! By the end of the month this school year will be over, and I'm feeling quite emotional about saying goodbye to my class.
Because I needed more work to do in these last four weeks, I brought this little monkey home yesterday. The children are obsessed.
Had a lovely jacket potato at Mackenzie and Cruikshank in Forres this afternoon, but evidently my appetite isn't as big as it used to be - I am absolutely stuffed! 10yo loved his luxury hot chocolate too. π
I'm "running" with several other members of staff from my school to raise money in memory of some wonderful people we have recently lost in our local community. Please donate if you can. Thank you so much.

Over the last few weeks I've started exercising more regularly to help my mental health and general stress levels, and I'm furious to report that it appears to be helping.
My class are absolutely loving our new Viking topic this term. After discussing clothing and armoury, they designed their own Viking Shields yesterday and today they painted them. π
