Reminder: The Strawbridge School Art Show is Monday, May 22nd from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. The show will feature a collection of the creative artworks from kindergarten through fifth grade student artists. #WhereStudentsThrive
The cutest little spiderwebs you ever did see! 1st grade learned about the unique art of Michael Anthony Simon and enjoyed a read aloud of "Sophie's Masterpiece" by Eileen Spinelli, before weaving their own colorful webs. @Strawbridg_HTSD@VanSciver_HTSD
I’ve set up virtual visits with the artist Reggie Laurent for the past 3 years, and he is one of the most down-to-earth, inspiring and humble humans I’ve ever had the pleasure of interacting with. He deserves better, as do many uncredited artists being referenced on TpT.
3rd Grade learned all about the history of the Color Wheel and practiced mixing colors prior to creating these beauties. Then they learned about the origins and history of papel picado, as well as 2 amazing papel picado artists: Catalina Delgado Trunk and Karina Puente.
Strawbridge’s collaborative artwork is officially up on display. Inspired by the artist and author Diane Alber, and her picture book “Sticks”. @Strawbridg_HTSD
@VanSciver_HTSD's school-wide collaboration is complete! Each student in grades K-5 decorated a stick using "variety". They were inspired by the author and artist Danielle Alber, and her picture book "Sticks".
These didn't make it in time for the art show, but I love how they turned out! 3rd grade met the artist Reggie Laurent earlier this year via Zoom, and they have recently finished up their artworks inspired by his signature "DNA" style. @VanSciver_HTSD@Strawbridg_HTSD 😍
Got a lot of this display up today to celebrate Black History Month. It will remain up and continue to grow throughout the year, as I believe it is important to teach a diverse group of artists and styles all year long.
2nd grade rocked these earlier this year, just a few weeks before the amazing artist who inspired them sadly passed away. These sculptures are now an even sweeter nod to a talented painter. RIP Wayne Thiebaud, and Happy Valentines Day to all! @VanSciver_HTSD@Strawbridg_HTSD
It's always magical when you finally get 5th grade to buy into what you've been working on. Our Origami relief sculptures are coming out beautifully! Here's a sneak peak for your enjoyment. 🤩 @Strawbridg_HTSD@VanSciver_HTSD
