You’re telling me I’m sick in bed and I need to think of a lesson that’s accessible to the kids and also accessible enough for a non-specialist to teach, with answers and proper examples. That’s more than I usually do😂
I've been watching lesson footage today, especially around miniwhiteboard usage. A teacher asks half a dozen questions on MWBs within 5 mins, and that's 30 students, so 180 answers. Mind boggling.
Can't be achieved through any other medium.
@Miss_M_Maths The drawing with compass/proteacror tool !! I haven’t used it since my first year of teaching a couple years ago, but want to convince my new school to get it
Teachers shouldn’t get a mark against their name for not doing after school/holiday ‘intervention’ sessions, paid or otherwise. Wrong when a teacher gives loads of extra time informally to kid(s) on the day to day and gets no recognition for it at all and then is ‘frowned upon’ for not wanting to do the set-piece ‘intervention timetable’.
Ruth Perry’s death is so sad and avoidable. @Ofstednews should suspend all inspections until an independent enquiry produces recommendations on how inspections should be conducted to ensure tragedies like this never happens again.
If a child failed a one off snapshot test, that we knew was completely flawed, would we tell them they were inadequate?
This is what we do to the adults in our education system - OFSTED tells teachers and leaders this every day. Shatters ppl. And for what? Ppl with 20/30 years experience wrecked. Complete waste. Its truly time to get rid of the spectre hanging over ppls heads. At the very least - the grades must go.
Ok, time for a bit of nuance on the whole behaviour thing, and it starts with the fact that
Yes, I think discipline is important
Yes, I think rules are important
Yes, I think consequences are important
BUT
Yes, I also absolutely *hate* all of the above.

When a female member of staff asks a group of pupils to put rubbish in the bin and they ignore her, then a male member of staff asks them to do it and they do. That’s everyday sexism & it IS an issue in schools, don’t let people tell you it isn’t.
