@heidifessenden Several of my struggling students were confused that rounding down meant not changing that digit… many decreased it incorrectly. A vertical number line shows that to them visually and fixes the confusion!

There are no BAD kids!
There are kids who:
-have been traumatized
-have little hope for the future
-haven’t experienced success or love
-haven’t learned to regulate emotions
-have been repeatedly disappointed by adults
It’s NEVER too late to help a kid who is struggling!
As we get ready to return to in-person school, do not expect “normal.” We’re trying, but not only do we have our typical concerns, but also are clothed in the uncertainty of Covid variants. Be kind. Be patient. Expect challenges. Use your coping skills. We are too.
@DanRather Mob mentality at work. As a masked teacher returning to the classroom this makes me sad. Just let me teach. Who cares if I’m wearing a mask?
