Excellent op-ed by Assemblywoman and good friend @JeniferRajkumar on the imperative to “pass Priscilla’s Law - and finally give New York City the e-bike accountability system its residents demand.” The Assemblywoman introduced the legislation back in 2024 and every year, month and day that goes by without its implementation puts the lives of NYC pedestrians at risk because of wayward unregistered and unlicensed e-bikes. New York State needs to enact Priscilla’s Law now!!!

I am beyond grateful to my NYS Assembly Member and dear friend @Rebecca76AD for sponsoring and co-sponsoring legislation to hold e-bike and e-scooter operators accountable for their reckless, dangerous and life-threatening behavior. It has been 2 years since I was struck and the time is now to finally pass laws protecting pedestrians, especially the elderly, on New York’s streets. Thank you again, Assemblywoman Seawright!!!
@NYCCouncil@vmmaloney Thank you, @SpeakerMenin and City Council colleagues for your commitment to take action on this pressing public safety and quality of life issue for New Yorkers!!
As you may know, I am a survivor of a violent encounter with a law-breaking e-bike speeding the wrong way on Third Avenue as I was walking to my Upper East Side apartment. The impact broke my leg in three places requiring surgical implant of a titanium rod on my tibia bone and the loss of some sight in my right eye. I’m the lucky one, not having brain or skull damage. It could have been much worse.
Still having the ability to communicate, since the incident two years ago, a day after my 75th birthday, I have vigorously advocated for government to take action in holding accountable an industry that ignores traffic laws and the very welfare of New York pedestrians, let alone the lives of errant e-bike drivers. I am not anti-bike; I am pro-safety.
I highly commend @SpeakerMenin, my City Councilwoman and friend, as well as Transportation Committee Chair @ShaunAbreu, former Chair @Powers4Queens, @GaleBrewerNYC, @Lynn4NYC, @vmmaloney and other City Council members, who are committed to addressing this pressing quality of life and safety issue, which has been long overdue.
Ultimately, no pedestrian should fear for their lives while walking in the City of New York.
Thank you, again, Speaker Menin.
@SpeakerMenin@NYCCouncil Amazing! Kudos to Speaker Menin and her Council colleagues for addressing this pressing public safety and quality of life issue!!
Every New Yorker deserves to move around our city freely and safely, regardless of how they get around.
But too many people have been seriously injured or killed in crashes involving illegal e-bikes, e-motos, and e-scooters.
That’s why the @NYCCouncil is launching a comprehensive review of where existing laws can be stronger enforced, and what additional solutions are needed to keep New Yorkers safe.
At a recent forum among Democratic Party primary candidates in the 12th Congressional District, as you can see in the video, when asked which famous Jewish American they admire, NYS Assemblyman Alex Bores identified me as his selection. I’m so grateful and truly humbled by Alex’s recognition.
Alex is a good and trusted friend, personally and professionally, as well as a solid ally of our Jewish community. We met and spent time together during his February 2023 trip to Israel which included a visit to Kfar Aza and then to Yad Vashem, both of which had a lasting impact on Alex. As emotionally as he wrote about the October 7th devastation in Kfar Aza (https://t.co/N17uuPvDlX), and as emphatically as Alex opposes BDS, Alex strongly urges the adoption and utilization of the IHRA working definition of antisemitism. Alex is a steadfast supporter of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state, the manifestation of Jewish self-determination in its ancient homeland.
Bottom line, I will be voting for Alex Bores in the primary.
The official production by the Office of the Mayor of the City of New York of a video marking what Palestinian Arabs and others call Nakba (Catastrophe) Day is abominable. The commemoration of this day was established, by the PLO’s Yasser Arafat, in 1998 on May 15 because that is when, in 1948, multiple Arab armies launched their first unsuccessful war to annihilate the newly inaugurated State of Israel. Historically, in 1947, UN Resolution 181 was passed creating two states in former British Mandate Palestine - - a Jewish State and an Arab State. The Jews accepted and the Arabs rejected the arrangement and went to war. The true “catastrophe” for the Arab world, and the original meaning of Nakba, was that they lost that war and, thank G-d, every other war since. An ancillary catastrophe is having a NYC mayor who maligns history and denies the Jewish people’s right to self-determination in their ancient homeland, Israel. #amyisraelchai 🇮🇱

1.Nebi Musa riots
2.Jaffa riots
3.Hebron massacre
4.Safed massacre
5.Palestine riots
6.Tiberias massacre

8.Haifa Oil Refinery massacre
9.Hadassah medical convoy massacre
10.Kfar Etzion massacre
That’s pre-1948.
Before the UN proposed two states side by side on Arab and one Jewish.
Before every Arab state rejected that plan.
Before five Arab armies invaded to destroy the UN approved Jewish state.
They tried to annihilate the Jews.
Thank God, they lost.
Tonight, we had a resounding victory by electing Carl Wilson as our next City Council Member.
Carl has been a friend and colleague for many years, and I couldn’t have been more proud to endorse him in this election.
He built an unbelievable coalition that inspired voters across his district, and I can’t wait to welcome him as our next Council Member!
Today I ran the 5K in the Jerusalem Marathon despite the heat and the hills! What a reaffirming and exhilarating experience, especially after having limited my running over the past 6 weeks to speeding to a safe room after a siren!! #amyisraelchai
I’m in the protected room in Efrat, Israel, as sirens wail (video) alerting to Iranian ballistic missiles targeting civilians. Thank G-d for the Israeli missile interception systems! May G-d bless with success the IDF and U.S. military as they crush the evil regime in Tehran!!
On this Veterans Day 2025, as a former U.S. Army Chaplain and 3rd generation American soldier, I salute all of my fellow servicemembers, men and women, who gave of themselves for all of us 🇺🇸.
During Somos in Puerto Rico, I was invited by The Blue Card to recite the traditional Jewish memorial prayer at the stone laying ceremony honoring Holocaust survivors and victims. I commend CEO Masha Pearl for organizing this meaningful event and am grateful to those who attended
