You’ll forget them on a random Tuesday, and that’s the strange mercy of time.
If you left for reasons you knew were real, let the ending have its dignity. Don’t turn a breakup into a negotiation simply because you miss someone. Respect their distance. Resist the urge to chase, explain or prove that you still care.
When nostalgia arrives, remember why you left. We have a tendency to mourn the person we lost and forget the person we were when we decided we had had enough.
You can miss them. You can love them. You can even leave a small corner of your heart open to the possibility that life may cross your paths again.
But you don't have to act on the feeling.
Some things are not meant to be fought for twice. Sometimes you honour what you had by having the courage to let it end.
let me save you a few years of confusion:
being able to endure something is not proof that you should keep enduring it. you’re allowed to discern that a situation is not right for you before the wheels fall off.
This week I do not want to deal or speak to anyone if I do not have to.
I am currently on strike 2, I am 1 strike away from a crash out so imma avoid any triggers for a few days.
Good thing I know exactly what I need to do. 😇
We are slowly removing coincidence out of our lives. We don't pick a restaurant before even checking the ratings. We don't hear music before the algorithm ever predicts we'll like it. We don't even take a route before maps removes the wrong turn. Barely meet someone even before checking their profile. And none of that is necessarily bad. But that's what makes it interesting because every tool nowadays removes every tiny bit of uncertainty, but uncertainty is where a lot of your favorite memories came from. The place you found by accident, the friend you met because the plans changed. The street you weren't supposed to be on that ended up having the best restaurant you've ever been to. We've optimized our life so well to the point where nothing unexpected ever has room to even happen and a life with no accidents is easier to manage, but it's just harder to remember.
2 years back I used to think like this. I thought I had met the kind of person you marry and had lost my chance.
This year I met someone who ticked every box and some and now I am convinced there is no such thing as you cannot meet another one!
There are great people out here.
I believe that every grown man and woman has that one relationship that went tits up and knows that they are probably never getting it that good again.
The difference is, we don't keep reminiscing about them because we know it handicaps any potential partner right off the bat.
I'm not ashamed to say it. I've overplayed my role more times than I can count. Not because I'm desperate, not because I lack self-respect, but because when I care... I care for real. I pour. I show up. I love in a way I want to be loved back. And yes, sometimes I hurt my own feelings doing it. But at least I know my heart was honest. I stand by that.
