🚨 An urgent message to the States Parties of the Rome Statute ahead of the vote on 24 July from the Prosecutor’s legal team.

We act for Karim A. A. Khan KC, Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court.

On Friday, at a Special Session of the Assembly of States Parties, your delegations will vote in person and by secret ballot on whether the Prosecutor should be removed from office under Article 46 of the Rome Statute, in respect of allegations he has consistently denied.

Before that vote is cast, you are entitled to know how this process has been conducted.

The President of the Assembly has closed every formal channel through which Mr Khan’s legal team might make representations to you and has written to all States Parties suggesting that you should not meet with us.

Mr Khan KC and his legal representatives were refused accreditation to attend the session on 24 July. The right under the rules to address you on the substantive decision of misconduct has been flatly denied to us.

Consider what that means.

You are the decision-makers. You alone will determine whether the Prosecutor is removed. Yet the man whose removal you are considering has been told that his representatives may not address you, may not answer before you the case put against him, and may not correct errors, of which there are many, in the material placed in front of you. We know of no court or tribunal in any proper and fair legal system that bars a person facing the gravest professional sanction from being heard.

So we write openly, though restricted by confidentiality obligations, because no other route has been left to us.

Andy Burnham, as the UK's new Prime Minister, should rule out weakening copyright law to benefit AI companies.

He has a great opportunity to do so. The Labour Party under Starmer became, in 2 years, the party of AI boosterism. Ministers got incredibly close to US big tech companies; the government's closest advisors on AI were big tech CEOs and AI investors.

As a result, the government put forward a proposal to hand the life's work of British creatives to AI companies for free - which received only 3% of the public's support when it went to consultation. The government was totally out of whack with public opinion, which is *hugely* in favour of requiring AI companies to pay for the resources they make millions from.

They walked back this insane plan - but they stopped short of making a decision on how to proceed.

Just last week, the Australian PM fought off intense tech industry lobbying and said Australia will not legalise the theft of creative work by AI companies. Burnham should follow his lead, and make it clear that this government will put the interests of British people ahead of the interests of overseas tech giants.

🚨NEW: KC Anu Mohindru has been allowed to continue being a barrister despite falsely claiming that he studied medicine at Oxford University and for claiming that he was a qualified doctor.

He also claimed that he had played cricket for the Bar, for Lashings Cricket Club and for MCC, and that he was a cricketing blue having represented Oxford in a varsity match against Cambridge.

A tribunal disbarred him for telling his 23 Essex Street interviewers a “reckless, foolish and completely unnecessary lie” about studying at Oxford, and because he “doubled down" on his CV.

On appeal at the High Court, Mr Justice Johnson overturned  Mohindru's expulsion, stating that it "would be wrong to impose the ultimate sanction merely because dishonesty is present".

The Other Face of Gaza… How the Occupation Changed Lives and Faces

“My children and people are afraid of how I look… I face painful and difficult situations every day.”

With these words, Najwa Abu Atiwi, a mother of five, describes the tragedy she has been living through since she suffered severe injuries in an Israeli airstrike that completely changed her face.

Najwa sustained devastating injuries, including extensive fractures to her facial bones, upper jaw, nose, and cheek. She also lost her right eye entirely. Despite undergoing several surgeries, she continues to suffer from severe facial disfigurement and extreme difficulty opening her mouth, eating, and speaking, turning even the simplest daily tasks into a painful struggle.

The suffering is not only physical. The psychological pain runs even deeper. Najwa lost one of her daughters, and with that loss came another devastating reality—she also lost her facial features. Today, even her own children are frightened by her appearance.

Doctors warn that her condition could worsen due to the severe lack of medical resources and the collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system. They stress that she urgently needs to travel abroad for treatment, including reconstructive surgery for her facial bones and skull, a prosthetic eye, and complex surgeries to rebuild her nose and eyelids.

Najwa does not only need medical treatment—she needs a second chance at life.
A chance to reclaim her face, her smile, and her ability to embrace her children without fear.
