Ben McKenzie: I'm an author and filmmaker. I spent the last several years documenting fraud and other criminal activity in the cryptocurrency industry. I believe we are at a point of crisis when it comes to crypto's influence over our legislative process. Recent reporting from just last week reveals a foreign company that issues a cryptocurrency used by major criminal organizations appears to have shaped Trump's signature piece of legislation, the GENIUS Act, while at the same time forging deep financial relationships with members of the executive branch.
Rick Scott pled the 5th 75 times, in a single 2000 civil deposition.

Rick Scott (then former CEO of Columbia/HCA) invoked the Fifth Amendment 75 times on July 27, 2000, during a deposition in a civil breach-of-contract lawsuit brought by Nevada Communications Corp. against Columbia/HCA in Manatee County Circuit Court (Florida). His lawyer advised him to do so out of prudence because of pending criminal investigations into the company related to Medicare billing practices. Scott repeatedly stated a version of: “Upon advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer the questions by asserting my rights and privileges under the Fifth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution,” including on basic questions such as whether he was a current or former employee.

It's hard to overstate the complexity and volume of President Trump's profiteering.
Trump is making more money than ever before. He made BILLIONS last year alone. It is not normal for a president to profit from the presidency at all, much less on this staggering scale.

We just got back from Lochiel on the Arizona-Sonora border, where DHS is demolishing ancient cottonwood trees that are older than the border itself to clear a path for the wall.
People have gathered to sit in the last remaining tree that contractors have targeted. Yesterday, one person was arrested.
These cottonwoods provide crucial habitat for birds and wildlife. I'm told an endangered yellow-billed cuckoo has been frequenting the last tree standing.
We (Center for Biological Diversity) are actively suing DHS for issuing legal waivers that bypass all environmental laws for border wall construction. Because people and wildlife in the borderlands deserve the same protections that exist everywhere else in America.
Reminder that on his last day of his first term, Trump awarded a commendation to Dr Fauci "in recognition of his exceptional effort on Operation Warp Speed"
The crypto industry is hoping you won't notice as they quietly push the CLARITY Act through Congress. Masquerading as "reform," this bill does nothing to stop Trump's crypto corruption or the use of crypto by criminal networks & other bad actors.
We must expose their scheme.
An advisory council packed with allies of President Trump voted Friday to weaken federal oversight of construction projects affecting historic sites.
Critics of the president's projects in Washington are concerned that this move will open the floodgates to endangering preservation of historic and cultural places across the country.

APPLEBAUM: Trump is using tools of American power to enrich himself and his family. That's real, profound abuse of American power.
For example, when Witkoff and Kushner were negotiating with Russians over war in Ukraine, they weren't negotiating on behalf of America.
They weren't negotiating in order to bring security to Europe, which is America's strongest ally, where lot of American companies do business.
They weren't negotiating on behalf of Ukrainian people, who have been, objectively speaking, the victims of horrific attacks.
They were negotiating in order to do business deals for maybe companies associated with them, but certainly other American companies.
And they were talking directly to Russians who were promising them mineral deals and oil and gas deals.
No, world. This isn't a movie.
This isn't archive footage from World War II.
It's not Mariupol.
It's not Toretsk.
This is Myrnohrad today.
A city whose name means "city of peace."
A city that was full of life until not long ago.
This is what you're allowing to happen.
I lay out Trump's three-part strategy to attack the midterm elections and what we need t do to fight back.

BREAKING: In 2019, SDNY prosecutors persuaded New Mexico’s AG to shut down his Epstein investigation by promising to share evidence of state crimes.
Two weeks ago, SDNY U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton broke that promise.
Today, he was confirmed as Director of National Intelligence.

🚨🚨🚨
With the confirmation of Clayton, Trump has loyalists in place at the power agencies who will work to enable his election subversion schemes for 2026 and 2028. They're not incompetent, and they're putting loyalists in beneath them. The threat is far greater than in 2020.
Four members of Congress who sit on committees that directly regulate SpaceX have a family stake in the company’s stock.
Yes, these are conflicts of interest. No, this should not be allowed.

Devon Archer was convicted by a federal jury of helping defraud the Oglala Sioux Tribe’s business arm out of $60 million in worthless bonds. He owed $43.4 million in restitution and $15.7 million in forfeiture. The Supreme Court refused to hear his appeal.
Trump pardoned him. And the White House explained why out loud: the case against Archer changed, they said, after he became a witness against the Biden family.
