Pakistan beat South Africa to finish 11th at the FIH Hockey World Cup, their best finish in 20 years.

After two 12th place finishes and two DNQs in the previous four editions, this is also the first World Cup since 2006 in which Pakistan have won two matches.

Yes, 11th is hardly where Pakistan hockey once belonged. But it is an improvement, and that matters.

Hockey cannot be fixed overnight. This setup needs consistency, stability and time to rebuild the squad. Constantly pressing the reset button won’t help.

Give this group time to develop, build depth and compete consistently. Pakistan hockey needs a sustained rebuild, not another short term fix.
