This is a prime example of why people are losing confidence in our justice system. Smashing over 200 car windows is not normal. Simply returning the offenders to the streets and hoping for the best isn’t a real strategy. Asking residents to just deal with it is unacceptable.

Many of the policy changes over the last four years are failing the people they’re designed to serve. There needs to be a balance between compassion and consequence. Reviewing and revising the Hennepin County Attorney’s approach to juvenile justice will be a top priority day one.
