Jesus fucking Christ.
Affirmative action
Student loan forgiveness
Granting business the right to refuse service to members of the LGBTQ community.
All gutted in just one week because of a conservative stacked Supreme Court who will be coming for interracial and same-sex marriages next.
Just an absolutely shameful day for American jurisprudence. Agree?
Please do not forget that President Biden promised he'd cancel student loans. And he delivered for all of us. But every Republican Justice Supreme Court struck down his program. So, please, don't go around blaming President Biden. Blame this Supreme Court.
Clarence Thomas.
You just voted to gut affirmative action and student loan forgiveness.
Let’s take a look how you got into Yale, shall we?
During your 58-page concurring opinion, you wrote that the foundational policies of affirmative action "fly in the face of our colorblind Constitution and our Nation's equality ideal.”
But Justice Thomas, we did a little digging and it turns out that Yale university followed an affirmative action policy at the time you attended its law school.
There’s more.
In 1991 a New York Times article about you reported that Yale University officials confirmed you were admitted to its law school "under an explicit affirmative action plan with the goal of having blacks and other minority members make up about 10 percent of the entering class."
It appears clear from the testimony of Yale officials that your admission to the Yale School of Law was made at the time of affirmative action policies and was almost certainly influenced by it.
We should also mention that
you secretly accepted $150,000 in tuition payments from rightwing billionaire Harlan Crowe, but you just voted to strike down loan forgiveness for students who need it.
There is something absolutely tragic about the fact that the benefits of
affirmative action helped create a Justice Thomas who will now deny many young African American talented individuals the same opportunity.
Justice Thomas, if you’re so against affirmative action, I suggest you resign from the Bench.
So let me get this straight: Marjorie Taylor Greene and other Republicans got their PPP loans totally forgiven.
But Americans with student loan debt are left out to dry? That’s the Republican’s logic? Ok. Gen Z will respond accordingly in 2024.
Lots of very bad things this 6-3 majority has done, (Dobbs being, imho, the worst), but them deciding you are now $10,000 poorer than you were yesterday is really a helluva thing.
After delivering their rulings, which Supreme Court Justices will now board the yachts and jets of rich friends of similar ideology to rest on luxury vacations?
Gen-Z will remember the last three SCOTUS decisions. And we will remember that Biden is still fighting for student loan forgiveness.
Please vote. 2024 is coming.
I’m sorry. In America, your right to exercise your religion doesn’t give you a right to discriminate.
If your business is open to the public, you don’t retain some license to discriminate based on religious belief. Religious bigotry is still bigotry.
SCOTUS should be ashamed.
To Ralph Norman, the Congressman of the great state of South Carolina,
You say it is “obnoxious” for taxpayers to be responsible for the loans of others.
Well sir, we did a little digging and it turns out you had $306,520 in PPP loans forgiven.
Every penny of that was money that came from taxpayers and it wasn’t paid back.
Here’s the big question: why is it ok for YOU, but not
students trying to make their lives better?
I think we know the reason.
First, it’s because you represent the same SELFISH thinking of your entire party: “It’s good for me but not for thee.”
And lastly, it’s because you’re an asshole.
$760 billion in PPP loans were forgiven.
That’s $360 billion more than this Administration’s student debt relief program.
And, several Republican members of Congress who opposed student debt relief benefited from those PPP loans.
