This week we are so excited to honor our social workers during School Social Work Week! These hard-working and humble educators are dedicated to serving our students day in and day out. Thank you for all that you do! #BeEvergreen
My favorite tool I developed this year has hands down been my “Negative Thoughts Shredder”. To work on cognitive reframing, students write down a negative thought they are having & before shredding we talk through it & develop a positive reframe. They LOVE it #BeEvergreen
My students I check in with every morning started rotating who gets to write a positive message on my board for the day (they independently initiated this)… thought I’d share this one 🤗 #BeEvergreen
I love this new Erika's Lighthouse resource where students can practice responding to a friend who is showing signs of depression
Mental Health Awareness Week may be over but mental health is a priority every day! 💙🧠

So proud of our Southeast 5th graders! With all the uncertainty this year brought you proved you can still be dedicated learners, bold leaders & above all, extremely resilient kids. We can’t wait to see all you accomplish in the years to come! 🧑🎓💙🦅 #EPSD124
Data from @ChiPublicHealth shows recent cases are concentrated in less vaccinated Chicago communities. COVID is not over. The vaccine works. #ProtectChicago 312-746-4835
I recently heard this reflection & have not stopped thinking about it
Regardless of what time a child arrives at school, regardless of yesterday's behavior, every morning each child should know they are welcome & that our school is better because they are here #TraumaInformed

Educators may not always feel prepared to facilitate conversations about current events, identity, history and justice. But it's so important. Consider these strategies to give you and your students space to process, learn and discuss critical topics.

@EPSD124! video fixed!
We shouldn’t go back to the schools of March 2020 – that’s a low bar. Right now, we have the chance to be bold – stronger mental health support, better training, and the opportunity to address inequities that existed long before COVID-19.
Ms. Yore, our outstanding social worker, leads a socially-distanced lesson for our Child Protective Unit in @2ndStepProgram! Ensuring that we meet our students' social-emotional needs & their personal safety, are priorities for @EPSD124. #D124Empower Photo Credit: @mrs_domenech
