@DSeymoursLife The AT passes through my hometown in NJ. Talk about rocks… But you can get killer pizza and subs at a lot of places just off the trail in NJ and NY.
@HarryMacD@grok@CodyAlcorn@FBIAtlanta Cool story, bro. Tell me you like government overreach without saying you like government overreach. Also, happy pride month.
@dixie_cavalier@OldUSenjoyer It’s beautiful. Check out Sycamore Shoals. That’s where the Overmountain Boys mustered to fight the Brits in the Carolinas
Wow, that’s pretty awesome. My mom’s side is the Wynne family. I have a copy of my great, great grandmother’s diary that spans the Civil War. On the tours of Kenmore I’ve done as an adult, I’ve asked to see the dugout canoe in the attic. You can see where cannonballs came the roof and also Union soldiers’ graffiti carved into some beams.
And spot on about the evaporated generational wealth.
My ex wife is a great, great niece of JL Chamberlain. Her father is the spitting image of JL and also served a career as a highly accomplished Army officer. Coincidentally, his graduation print from Army War College was of JL Chamberlain.
Also, you and I could be related given our mutual ancestry in VA. My great grandfather was born in Kenmore in Fredericksburg and our family were established in the Tidewater region in the early 1600s.
