BREAKING: The Congressional Budget Office sounds a five-alarm warning that if Republicans allow the Affordable Care Act's extended subsidies to expire at the end of 2025 millions of Americans will become uninsured.
And that's not all...
The bombshell report also found that premiums will spike drastically if the ACA subsidies expire.
The CBO stated that "not extending the credit will increase the number of people without health insurance and raise the average gross benchmark premiums for plans purchased through the marketplaces."
The life-saving tax subsidies were implemented by President Biden in 2021 under the historic American Rescue Plan Act — and were then extended through 2025 by the Inflation Reduction Act. The tax credits have successfully lowered out-of-pocket costs for consumers.
"Without a permanent extension, CBO estimates, the number of uninsured people will rise by 2.2 million in 2026, by 3.7 million in 2027, and by 3.8 million, on average, in each year over the 2026-2034 period," the report said.
It also projected a rise in 4.3% in gross benchmark premiums in 2026 if the subsidies expire with a rise of an average 7.9% between 2026 and 2034.
Of course, Republicans don't care about the financial suffering of average Americans. Their entire political party exists to funnel more money to the rich and corporations. We must take a stand against their greed.
Please retweet and ❤️ to demand that the subsidies be extended — and consider joining the growing exodus to Tribel, a new pro-democracy social network that is exploding in popularity because Twitter and Facebook are trying to stop its growth — which is only making Tribel grow even faster. These are FACTS. You can get mad about them, scream into the void, or write a 10-tweet thread, but it won’t change reality:
- Trump is a convicted felon.
- Trump was found liable for sexual assault, with the judge explicitly calling it rape.
- Trump’s son has stacked multiple board positions at companies where he has little to no experience in their actual industries.
- Trump and his family are raking in millions off the presidency. Just yesterday, I heard a Fox News ad hawking $1,000 Trump watches as “presidential memorabilia.”
- A Chinese national funneled $30 million into the Trump family’s cryptocurrency scheme just a few months ago.
- Trump’s business was found liable for over $400 million in fraud, according to a court ruling.
- 17+ women have accused Trump of sexual assault or rape.
But yeah… keep yelling about Hunter Biden’s laptop like that somehow makes all of this disappear.
The richest man in the world spent at least $277 million getting Trump and other Republicans elected.
His net worth is now up $90 billion since the election, due in large part to having Trump's ear and an ability to steer more govt contracts to his companies.
See the problem?
At this year’s @ObamaFoundation Democracy Forum, I spoke about pluralism – the idea that in a democracy, we all have to find a way to live alongside individuals and groups who are different from us. So we commit to a system of rules that helps us peacefully resolve our disputes and try to cultivate habits that encourage us to not only tolerate each other but also join in collective action.
Trump brags that he got Mexicos new president to stop illegal migration from Mexico. The New Mexican President says that is not what she said at all😂😂😂

The same jackasses who want to give trump a pass for his mountain of FELONY crimes (with mountains of evidence) don't want President Biden to pardon his own son for crimes that, if his name wasn't Biden, he'd just pay a fine.
Fuck that noise, Joe.
Pardon Hunter Biden.
Researchers at the London School of Economics found that 50 years of tax cuts for the wealthy did not trickle down to the middle class and only served to help the rich get richer.
What does Trump have planned for his second term? Even more trickle-down nonsense.
I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about how to build rules and habits that allow us to disagree deeply while still being able to live together.
On December 5, I’ll talk more about this idea – called pluralism – at our third annual @ObamaFoundation Democracy Forum. Learn more at https://t.co/skhawNQ57s
Trump announced this evening that Mexico has agreed to close the border. Mexico responded by announcing that it has no plans to close the border. Trump’s “foreign policy consists of dementia.
Donald has gotten away with one of the greatest crimes against America. Despite the disastrous failures of Republicans, Merrick Garland, and SCOTUS, we must remember those who suffered on Jan 6 and continue to fight for justice—for them and for democracy.

Also just imagine if Biden put out a statement on Thanksgiving excoriating the ‘Radical Right Lunatics’ - Fox hosts would love their mind. Centrist civility police would clutch their pearls.
But we continue to grade Trump on a curve, even now, nine years later.
Happy Thanksgiving, America.
May we use this moment to take time from our busy lives and focus on what matters most:
Our families, our friends, our neighbors, and the fact that we’ve been blessed to live in America, the greatest country on Earth.
