FYI for college/university students and their families: you can vote anytime between now and the election via special ballot at any Elections Canada Office. Especially helpful since there is no Campus Vote program this year.
Day 3 is a wrap!! grateful to the participants who created an exciting community of advocates for Multilingualism! The six word story reflections went straight to my heart. Thank you @SukaynaDewji for being a fabulous co-facilitator. Brain and heart are ready for rest! #ETFOsa21
Thank you @LisaBoate and @SukaynaDewji for facilitating this wonderful opportunity to connect with Ontario educators as we push our thinking on welcoming, supporting and valuing multilingual learners. #ETFOsa21

We are excited to be running a workshop with #etfo this summer! @ETFOeducators - sign up soon, they fill up quick! So many incredible options including our inspiring friend @JoelSeaman https://t.co/OBqRjAOZ6U
Whoa. I had no idea that doing a Google search with a vocabulary word and “pronunciation” brings up an audio of the word, a visual of how lips form the word, and allows the student to record their own voice and offers colour-coded corrections. So cool!! #WRDSBesl#WRDSbonline
@Toppel_ELD Tried something similar during virtual learning. When giving a break, set a timer, ask a question, and provide a stem. For example, "When we come back from break, tell us one thing you can see from your window." One thing I can see from my window is __________.
1A2 Whether in-person or virtual, I have been most successful when limiting the number of new activities and technology tools. A consistent daily routine, with built-in language expectations, is important for everyone. #ELLChat_BkClub 30.0 #MotivatingELLs by @draLBescalante
@HeatherMoraal @Toppel_ELD I use songs/music with my students (grades 6-8) to introduce and review content vocabulary (for example, the water cycle, Canadian provinces, units of measurement). I share the link to the video so they can listen again, share with a sibling, or revisit to study. Seems to work.
@Toppel_ELD TikTok can be great motivation for our students! I found that using an experiment with a known outcome helped me focus more on the language of the scientific process and lowered the affective filter (grade 6 to 8 ELD classroom).
@MsSalvac @JohnSeidlitz@MrsGill_ Every time I see QSSSA referenced, I think “What a good idea.”...Finally tried in my ELD class today and it is a GREAT idea! Level of engagement and quality of writing were both up. Thanks!
@MsSalvac @ZachRBrain@TheAmandaGorman@DerekRhodenizer Thank you for the inspiration! My ELL students listened for keywords and phrases in @TheAmandaGorman's poem and used these sketchnotes as a model for drawing pictures to match a message.
