Truth, Lies, and Tale-Bearing

Hazrat Abdullah ibn Mas‘ud (رضی اللہ عنہ) narrated:

Muhammad ﷺ said:

“Shall I not tell you what is among the worst forms of what is unlawful? It is tale-bearing—the spreading of words among people.”

And Muhammad ﷺ said:

“A person continues to speak the truth until he is recorded with Allah as a truthful person (Siddiq), and a person continues to lie until he is recorded with Allah as a liar (Kadhdhab).”

(Sahih Muslim: 6636)
